About the product

Product Name: Women’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam for Hair Thinning and Loss, Topical Treatment for Women’s Hair Regrowth, 4-Month Supply  by Rogaine

Women's Rogaine

Women’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam  is for thinning hair, hair loss and  to regrow fuller hair.

Rogaine (Minoxidil) was originally used in treating high blood pressure or hypertension but it was discovered that hair growth was a side effect of this drug. After several clinical studies were submitted to the FDA, it approved the drug for treating androgenetic alopecia or genetic hair loss.  Rogaine (minoxidil) is also the only FDA approved hair loss solution that also works with female patterned hair loss.

There are three phases in a hair follicles life cycle, the anagen (growth) phase, catagen (transitional) phase and telogen (resting) phase.  Rogaine works by accelerating and prolonging the anagen (growth) phase.

Specially formulated for women, this fast-working hair growth treatment is made with 5% Minoxidil and is clinically proven to regrow up to 25% more hair and works to boost hair follicle activity and hair protein production

Hair thinning treatment also contains botanical extracts and emollient to help maintain a healthy, conditioned scalp, plus alphahydroxy acid (AHA) to promote natural skin exfoliation to help keep hair follicles open.

From the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand, this anti-hair loss foam is ideal for use at the early stages of hair thinning and features Tricho-Prime Technology that works on contact to create a healthy hair regrowth environment

Women’s hair growth treatment delivers clinically visible results and comes in an easy-to-apply foam that is specially designed to fit easily into your daily beauty regimen

Who the  Product is for ?

Minoxidil (Rogaine) is an over-the-counter (nonprescription) medication approved for men and women. It is one of the options available to treat pattern (hereditary) baldness. It comes in the form of a liquid or foam that you rub into your scalp everyday.

This product is specially formulated for women and is a fast-working hair growth treatment. It is the first topical brand approved by the FDA to help men and women regrow hair. With over 20 years of results and several clinical trials Rogaine is the No. 1 brand recommended by dermatologists.

You have to wait from between 4 to 6 months to see results and ‘patience is a virtue’ says a dermatologist. Customers who have thinning hair have experienced thicker hair after using it for several months. Initially it may cause you to shed hair as hair follicles and new hair may be shorter and thinner than your previous hair. So for best results you have to keep applying the medication to prevent further hair loss.

Why is Rogaine effective ?

It works by revitalizing your shrinking hair follicles. However, if you already have dead follicles (i.e. totally bald areas) it probably won’t help you there — and neither will most of the other treatments I’m going to discuss later. Basically, minoxidil promotes blood flow and helps extend your hair’s growing or anagen phase.

For women, doctors recommend either a once-daily, 5% minoxidil or twice-daily 2% treatment course.

Pros

  • FDA approved – It is the only FDA-approved treatment for hair loss, other than Finasteride (Propecia).
  •  It works – Minoxidil products may leave a greasy or unpleasant residue after application so this foam is often considered the least greasy option

Cons

  •  The possible side effects are mild and typically limited to some skin irritation, scalp irritation and unwanted facial hair growth on the adjacent skin of the face and hands, and rapid heart rate (tachycardia).
  •  Other, more serious side effects like chest pain, swelling in the hands or feet, heart palpitations, and headache are rare, and they usually only occur if the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream.
  •  It is being messy to apply and is a pain to use as you have to apply it every 24 hours and of course you cannot go out before washing your hair. If you have long hair, a liquid application with a dropper is more convenient.

Why I recommend this product ?

Dr. Cheri Ong, dermatologist for American Dermatology Associates, Inc., confirmed and explained , “Low-level laser treatments (LLLT) are popular non-invasive and non-chemical options for hair loss that work by activating energy production in the hair follicle and modulating DHT.” “I think their effectiveness is not as significant as finasteride or minoxidil,” says Dr. Wolfeld.  He adds,  “However, it’s something that can be used quite easily by patients at home. If they use it two or three times a week, I tell them it can help to thicken their hair.” Results can take up to 18 months to show up, so Dr. Wolfeld stresses that patience is a virtue.

Many people who have purchased this product can vouch for its amazing effectiveness. The hair of one 24-year old lady was thinning so badly and she needed something to help her hair get thicker. And she got results after about 4 months. She described the four-month supply as fantastic value for money. Another customer who had classic female hair loss pattern got fuller and thicker hair  a few months after using Rogaine.

The initial shedding period may occur — but this is actually a good thing, as it’s a sign that the treatment is working. Old, thin hairs shed and new, healthier, larger hairs start to grow in their place. So while many people who have purchased this product found the initial shedding to be an inconvenience, it’s important to stick with the treatment if you want to see results. Otherwise you’ll likely lose all the hair you kept or regrew as a result of the treatment. Taking into account many of the pros and cons the treatment really works.

  1. Interesting finding to say the least! Hair loss is something no one would love to experience. For over two decades, I have never seen my mom with hair with keeps me baffled as to the reason why a woman’s wouldn’t grow. Interestingly, she’s not bald. This product should have some answers but I’m quite concerned if there are side effects that are pronounced.

    • Hi Ennymatics

Thank you for your comments. Hair loss certainly has an impact on a woman’s self-esteem and emotions. It could even be devastating for those who have undergone chemo or radiation therapy. But advances in medical science have given hope to many who have this problem.

  2. So sad how the drug has a lot of benefits but the downside can’t be ignored, the manufacturers should have gotten their math right when making this product that won’t tell well on their rep. Nevertheless what this product offers is still a great deal, a specially made drug for women for hair thinning  and regrowth and i personally find this amazing the product could definitely have done better. The review was great,  nice write-up by the admin. Very helpful

  3. I read the article carefully. It is mainly sponsored by women. And the product is high quality authorized by the FDA. Rogaine (Minoxidil) could work smoothly to harmful hair and regrow fulling hair. I think it will use every hair affected women. It also does work genetically hair fulling causes. I like very much it and I will buy it. Everybody should be using it.
